Emily is swimming so well! She is such a little fish! She has her swim class in a few weeks and she is going to progress so much but I am proud of her already! She has no fear!

School day...

How to vaccume the side boards.
How to decide what to give away to a charity.
How to decide what to throw away.
How to organize the stuff you have left.
How to lug 5 bags of give away, 4 bags and two boxes of trash downstairs!
How to make a family of 5 fit everything they own plus their school rooom in 4 bedrooms total!
I am determined to do and it and I will overcome.

I will overcome my need to keep EVERYTHING.
I will overcome my need to buy every book under the sun.
I will overcome my need to start 20 projects... all at once.
I will overcome my childrens inabilibty to put any thing away.
I will overcome the bad habits I have that taught my children not to put any thing away!
I will overcome, I will overcome, I will overcome...

I will let you know how it goes!

Today was kind of relaxing, the kids and I slept in. We woke up when we woke up, which was nice! I had a nice long shower- no interruptions! We started history and did the chapter on Kublai Khan and Marco Polo. I have a small lap book planned about Marco Polo which we started the timeline for. We did narration again and it went only slightly better today. The narrations I am using are quotes having to do with the history lesson which Trivium Academy posted and I think they are wonderful but they are long. I think Matt is struggling with them being so long but he does get the meaning of the quotes so I guess it is worth the extra effort. We did math, I went over a few things with Kate and gave her the pack for the week, this is something new we are trying, she has until Sunday evening to do the pack. It is only the second pack so we will see! I did spelling test with Kate and she is on her last lesson of Spelling Workout Press, it is a final review. I think I will give her a few weeks break from spelling and focus on English for the Thoughtful Child. Matt worked on printing and a worksheet on prefixes and suffixes. He is doing well I think!

I am ready for my photography class I am doing at mom's house. I am nervous which is silly but I just am. I have planned the lessons for the 8 weeks and decided to focus on a famous photographer each week, I am sad to say I know hardly any at all. I researched to find some and recognized many famous photographs but not many names. One I enjoyed a lot was Yann Arthus Bertrand. He took most shots from hot air balloons and his aerial shots are unbelievable!

I guess I will sign off for tonight-
Mom and Dad Happy anniversary!!!!!!

Here is a picture of Alex and Emily petting the alligator.

I will get better at this blog thing and eventually I will line up the pictures with the blog entries!!!
I went and re read my older posts and realized I change my mind a lot! But so is life. Things change, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad reasons, sometimes for no reason at all! I want to be honest in my posts so I guess this will continue and I hope people understand that I dont make many decisions lightly and that every situation has different aspects! I guess other than saying this I wont worry about it!

So today was a very productive day but I am so tired! We started the day out early, we had to be at the museum at 8:45. The kids had a tour of the Leonardo DaVinci Exhibit scheduled for 9:00. We traded kids, I took Alex and Amy took Matt and Kaitlin. I took Emily and Alex to the zoo for First Monday Mornings. It was so neat, the zoologist took us on a tour of the children's area. We got to pet an alligator. It was really much different than I thought it would be. It was so smooth and Dave reminded me later in the day how many people want snakeskin boots and purses and now I understand why! Although I never would!!!

We got through and went to Pearland for lunch with "truck" mama, than we went to the grocery store. I left exhausted and it was only 1:30! We got home and took a rest than we got some history in. We are so far behind! I am so disappointed in myself for getting so far behind but it is what it is and we are just going to do what we have to. We are in Chapter 21 and learned about Genghis Khan today. I always remember hearing it pronounced "Ging" like "King" but in the SOTW they said "Ging" like "jing". It was weird.

We got our map work done and than read the Paper Dragon. It was such a neat book! I really liked it! We did copy work for Chapter 20, thanks to Trivium Academy! It was Leo Tolstoy.
"The life of a moment,
and the life of a thousand years:
Your life and the life of all the visible
and invisible beings in the world, are equal."
I really like that quote. Matt liked it also because he seems to be really affected as we study history and people are not treated equally. He wants everyone to be treated the same! It was a nice quote to be able to talk about.
I tried dictation for the first time today, usually I just write the copy work down and they copy it but today we dictated! It didn't go very well, but I will keep at it and decided to do it at least 3 times a week.
